Where is Margate Manor located?

As the name suggests, we’re located in Margate, England. The guesthouse sits between the train station and Main Sands Beach with its famous tidal pool — just a three-minute walk from either. What kind of rooms do you offer?

All rooms at Margate Manor are private with luxurious king beds, equipped with tea, coffee (including regular and oat milk)hair dryershooks or hangers for clothingoversized towelsmirrorssitting areas, and adjustable mood lighting.

Can you hold our luggage?

Yes! We know you’re here to explore and that dragging luggage around can be a pain. We’re always happy to store your bags for free — as soon as you arrive and for as long as you need after check-out. Guests love this service when getting in early to heading to the beach or catching a late train home after checkout.

How close are you to Dreamland?

Of all the hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts in Margate, we’re one of the very closest to Dreamland — just a five-minute walk away.

Our favourite pub, The Shakespeare, is exactly halfway if you fancy a pre- or post-show drink.

Are you close to the beach?

Yes! We’re located right between Margate’s two best beaches.

Main Sands (with its famous tidal pool, arcades, and Sea Scrub Sauna) is just a three-minute walk.

Westbrook Bay, a peaceful and family-friendly beach, is just five minutes in the other direction.

We can provide beach towels and coolers on request — just ask before you head out.

Yes, we have free high-speed fibre Wi-Fi throughout Margate Manor, with speeds between 400–500 Mbps.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out by 11 am.

We’re flexible where we can be, and always happy to hold bags if you arrive early or want to enjoy a few more hours of sunshine before heading home.

Do you have free parking?

We’re located in one of the few Margate neighbourhoods with 24/7 free on-street parking (first come, first served).

Spaces fill quickly on summer weekends, but the train station car park (£3.50–£4.50/day) is just a three-minute walkand is a reliable backup option.

Is Margate Manor a hotel, Airbnb, or Guesthouse?

The concept for Margate Manor is inspired by unique accommodations we’ve loved in our own travels. Places like Chez Georges in Rio and Casa To in Puerto Escondido which combine the best elements of traditional hotels and Airbnb into a unique stay.

Our private, design forward rooms combine the comfort and convenience of a hotel with the personal touches of a bed and breakfast or Airbnb

At the moment we don’t offer breakfast (though Margate’s brunch scene more than makes up for it), but we’ll soon introduce a light breakfast option and honour bar for guests.

Are your bathrooms private or shared?

The Modernist Room includes a private bathroom with separate toilet, while the Romantic Room and Barolo Roomshare a rainfall shower bathroom.

All bathrooms are modern, spacious, and maintained to a hotel-standard level of cleanliness.

Is Margate Manor suitable for remote working?

Absolutely. Each room offers hotel-quality comfort with reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, good lighting, and a sitting area — ideal for remote work or a creative escape by the sea. Of the three, the modernist room, stands out for remote working with a sea view table in the bay window.

What is there to do in Margate?

Beyond having some of the very best beaches in all of England, Margate has an extremely vibrant food, arts and culture scene. We’re avid travellers and foodies ourselves and will soon be adding our own city guides to the site but in the mean time you can’t wrong with…

Food: Bottega Caruso, Angela’s, Dory’s, Sargasso or Palms Pizza.

Drinks: The Shakespeare, Margate Off License, The Last Light, Little Swift or XYLO

Coffee / Brunch: Big Shot, Cliffs, The Bus Cafe, or Forts

Art / Events: The Turner Contemporary or just subscribe to Don’t Miss Margate for the latest weekly happenings.

How is the water pressure in your showers?

The concept for Margate Manor is inspired by unique accommodations While Britain is a bit infamous for it’s poor water pressure we’ve gone out of our way to ensure ours is strong. Each of our showers is equipped with a pressure increasing pump, shower head or both. While not quite the torrential downpour of a Soho House or Hoxton shower, it’s quite close.

Are you accessible?

Our home is a restored Victorian property with stairs and no lift, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible.

We’re happy to help guests with mobility concerns find the most suitable room and can provide detailed access information before you book.

Are you accessible?

We love animals but currently don’t accept pets our property simply isn’t well suited for them.

If you’re travelling with a service animal, please contact us in advance — we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Be honest, how do you compare with other places we could stay in Margate?

Great question. There is no shortage of quality and unique stays in Margate. Where we feel we shine is offering the convenience of a hotel room with the unique character and personal touches of an Airbnb at a reasonable price. For hotels, guests houses and bed and breakfasts in Margate specifically, we feel like there are basically three tiers:

Tier One: Three high end designer hotels (Fort Road Hotel, 42 Guest House and Margate House)

Tier Two: A large number of fairly “standard” hotels and B&Bs which are usually comfortable enough and get the job done, but don’t offer much in the way of thoughtful design and luxury (E.G. The Burlington, Westbrook Lodge or The Beetroot)

Tier Three: One budget chain hotels (Premier Inn)

Margate Manor sit between tier one and tier two.

Compared to tier one: we are not a full service hotel like Fort Road or 42 and while we feel we come close, we don’t quite match them on luxury and high end design. But, their top of the market amenities come with the top of the market rates where ours are more reasonable. We also feel we outshine them on location, especially if you are coming by train: they are a bit more of a trek across town with your bags to reach where we are just three minutes from the station.

Compared to tier two: The design, luxury and amenities of our boutique rooms outshine most if not all stays in this tier and our modestly higher rates reflect that. We also outshine most stays in this tier on location being just a three minute walk from the train station or beach and only five minute walk from Dreamland.

As a boutique hotel and guest house we don’t have a kitchen or similar amenities of hiring a whole house or flat privately. If that’s what you are after, perhaps for a long family vacation, there are a number of wonderful options on Airbnb.
